Hurricane Shelter Engineered & Built to Withstand Cat 5 Storms
Families Who Live Along The Coast Find Protection From Hurricanes and Tornadoes With Our Above Ground Shelters
If you're not in a mandatory evacuation zone, and decide to shelter in place during a hurricane, you may need a shelter that's large enough to comfortably protect your family for several days.
"I am in the bulls eye (of Hurricane Michael, 2018) 60 miles from the coast with a disabled wife. We are completely at ease. I feel for everybody in my area. I just wish they had a Safe Shed. It is the most valuable asset I ever bought. Please pray for my neighbors."

Safe Sheds hurricane shelters are not water tight.

A Safe Shed above ground hurricane shelter is built to stand up to Category 5 hurricanes and the devastating tornadoes that often come with them. Keep your pets with you, secure your valuable possessions from the storm and looters, and avoid large, crowded community shelters with your own backyard hurricane shelter from Safe Sheds. (Read our blog post, Using Your Safe Shed As A Hurricane Shelter!)
Add bedding, supplies, and other comforts for long term sheltering.
Important: While a Safe Shed will withstand Cat. 5 winds, our hurricane shelters are not water tight. Water can enter the shelter under the door, if rising waters exceed the 6" high threshold. If there is a danger of flooding, do not remain in your shelter. Valuables can be stored in your Safe Shed if you cover the ventilation ducts and spray expansion foam in the door threshold to keep water from entering the shelter. Ventilation ducts and the door threshold should not be covered if the Safe Shed is occupied to ensure adequate air flow for the safety and comfort of the humans or pets inside! We will not deliver Safe Sheds hurricane shelters to flood zone or storm surge locations.
"To be honest, once you close the doors on the Safe Shed, you really can't hear too much. We did hear it {large tree shown in photos above} hit the top and it shook us a little. We felt we were safe."

Anchoring Your Hurricane Shelter
We price our shelter anchors separately because the type of anchor we recommend is based on the surface you'll be setting your shelter on at your home. Safe Sheds hurricane shelters have a 6" steel-reinforced concrete floor, so a concrete pad poured on-site isn't required. We need a level site that our delivery trucks can access, and we can usually set your shelter within three feet of an existing structure.
Please visit our "Anchoring" page for more information, pricing, and photos of our anchor options.

Options For Your Shelter
We offer a few options to make your shelter perfect for your family's emergency use. Add an Emergency Escape Opening to the back wall of your Safe Shed shelter as an additional means of egress. Or secure your supplies and equipment while you're away by adding a High Security Padlock to the shelter's handle.
